4 Tips for a Better You In 2019
Brush Twice a Day for Two Minutes
Brushing your teeth at least twice a day, for at least two minutes at a time, will earn you a much healthier mouth. You would be surprised how quickly plaque can build up on your teeth that will eventually harden and cause more serious problems. Brushing your teeth is the easiest way to get rid of the plaque entirely. If you aren’t already brushing your teeth this often, then we would absolutely recommend changing your habits as soon as possible.
If you’re one of the few Americans that floss daily – big high-five from us! Flossing is necessary for removing the plaque that hides between your teeth. Brushing just isn’t enough to get the job done and sometimes it can push the plaque in between your teeth as you brush. This plaque will generate acid that will eat away at your teeth. This will cause tooth decay and gum disease, so it’s important to floss at least once a day. Some people don’t know how to floss properly, so check with your dentist or check out our blog to learn how to complete this resolution the right way.
Eat a Healthy Diet
Eating a healthy diet can be absolutely essential to making sure you keep your teeth happy and healthy in 2019. Your mouth is the primary entryway to the rest of your body, and since all of your food will touch your mouth, it is important to eat healthy to keep your body and teeth in their best shape. There are plenty of fruits and vegetables that will provide your teeth with essential nutrients, and brush them in the process. Saliva production is also essential in this process since it will kill bacteria in your mouth in a natural way. Chewing sugarless gum for at least 20 minutes after meals is also an effective way to remove leftover food particles from your teeth.
Visit Your Local Dentist Regularly
The most important healthy smile resolution you can make this year is to see your local dentist at one of our Smile Workshop locations at least twice a year. Your dentist is the only person in your life that will examine your mouth for early signs of severe tooth decay, gum disease and mouth cancer so it is important to have regular check-ups even if there is nothing wrong with your teeth.
