Frequently Asked questions
Are children accepted for your dental services?
Absolutely! We love to see kiddos. Tooth decay has become the #1 childhood disease in the U.S. Smile Workshop is dedicated to early dental education and giving kids exceptional care.
How old does my child need to be to start dental services?
It’s recommended that you bring your child to the dentist when his or her first tooth appears. At Smile Workshop, we see children as young as six months old. Since they are so young, we provide parents with good brushing and flossing techniques that will help keep their children’s teeth healthy.
Do you accept Medicaid or Medicare?
We accept Medicaid, CHIP and some Medicare plans.
What insurance do you take?
We accept most PPO insurance plans.
What does my insurance cover?
Generally, dental policies cover some portion of the cost of preventive care, fillings, crowns, root canals, and oral surgery, such as tooth extractions. They might also cover orthodontics, periodontics (the structures that support and surround the tooth) and prosthodontics, such as dentures and bridges.
*Your insurance carrier can provide a breakdown of your benefits. However, until a claim is submitted it is difficult to know the exact out of pocket costs.

Why do I need to see the dentist every 6 months?
Regular dental visits are important because they can help spot dental health problems early on when treatment is likely to be simpler and more affordable. They also help prevent many problems from developing in the first place. Visiting your Dentist regularly is also important because some diseases or medical conditions have symptoms that can appear in the mouth.
What are the benefits of implants?
Dental implants do much more than replace missing teeth. They help maintain and strengthen bone structure, provide the ability to chew healthy food, and give patients the confidence to smile. They also protect existing teeth by helping to preserve bone structure.
What are the benefits of a crown?
There are several benefits of a dental crown. First, a crown restores your tooth back to the original size, shape, and color of the original tooth. Second, a crown surrounds the tooth and makes it strong again. Your Dentist can best advise you about your need for a crown.
How do you handle patients with anxiety?
Smile Workshop Dentists may recommend a sedative to help you stay calm. You have a range of options from a mild sedative like nitrous oxide to a stronger sedative that will help you sleep through the procedure. We encourage Patients to discuss any fears with the Dentist.
Do you have any specials for new patients?
We have specials frequently. Be sure to check out our website.
Can I eat right after my dentist appointment?
It is recommended to wait at least 30 minutes before eating after routine dental procedures. There are special instructions for eating after dental surgery. Check with your friendly Smile Workshop dental professional for specific information about the procedure you need.
What are sealants and when are they recommended?
The American Dental Association cites sealants as an effective weapon in the arsenal against tooth decay. Sealants are a thin coating painted on chewing surfaces of molars and premolars. Dental sealants act as a barrier, protecting your teeth against decay-causing bacteria. Sealants have proven effective with both adults and children but are most commonly used with children.
What is the price for common dental procedures?
We can provide an estimate or range for dental procedures. We recommend a full oral exam and x-rays to best know what procedure you need. Our friendly team of professionals will then discuss costs.
