National Children’s Dental Health Month is an event the American Dental Association (ADA) sponsors every February. All over the world children are suffering from dental problems. The goal of National Children’s Dental Health Month is to promote good dental health habits for children. Almost 66 percent of children in the United States do not have dental insurance. It is crucial for children to learn how to brush their teeth and the importance of going to the dentist at a young age.

Unfortunately, hundreds of thousands of children in the United States are unable to visit a dentist. These children usually come from lower income homes. Smile Workshop hates it when anyone has to suffer from a dental problem—especially children.

The National Institute of Health believes that 80 percent of all tooth decay problems in the United States is suffered by 25 percent of its children. The ADA wants to change this.

National Children’s Dental Health Month focuses on providing children from lower income homes with free dental care. Last year over 450,000 children were given the dental treatment they desperately needed. This year the ADA hopes to help even more.
