What Are Canker Sores?
Canker sores are small ulcers that occur inside the mouth that are often painful and uncomfortable. If you are experiencing painful sores on your tongue, inside your cheeks, or on the back portion of the roof of your mouth, you are most likely suffering from canker sores. They often tingle or burn prior to appearing. There are two different types of canker sores:
Simple Canker Sores – We often see simple canker sores appear in between the ages of 10-20. Simple canker sores occur a 3-4 times a year and often last around one week.
Complex Canker Sores – Complex canker sores are less common and occur more often in people who have previously suffered from complex canker sores.
What Is The Cause Of Canker Sores?
The cause of canker sores is relatively unknown and is often put down to stress, exhaustion, or a poor diet. It is known that certain foods such as citrus or acidic fruit and vegetables can trigger or make canker sores worse. Professionals also attribute canker sores to be caused by underlying health problems such as nutritional problems (E.G. iron deficiency) or an impaired immune system.
How Can I Cure My Canker Sores?

- Avoid Citrus, Acidic, and Spicy Foods
- Flossing Daily
- Brush your teeth with a soft bristled brush to avoid irritation
