Here’s some information about gum that you might not have known:

Recent clinical studies have shown that chewing sugarless gum for 20 minutes after having a meal can actually help prevent tooth decay.

Saliva is your body’s form of defense against left over food particles and other debris. It is produced naturally and is vital in neutralizing acids that are produced by bacteria. Saliva also provides disease-fighting substances throughout the mouth.

Sugarless gum increases the flow of saliva. This helps strengthen tooth enamel. What type of gum do you chew? Ensure that you are chewing sugarless gum, sweetened by non-cavity causing elements, by checking for the official American Dental Association (ADA) Seal of Approval.

Your children might prefer gum that contains loads of sugar for bubble blowing contests, but sugar paired with plaque and bacteria can produce tooth decay.

Chewing sugarless gum shouldn’t replace brushing and flossing twice a day, but it can certainly help! Stop buying gum packed with sugar! Do your mouth a favor and choose ADA Approved sugarless gum!
