Back to School Notes From Your Family Dental Practice

Did your children visit their family dental practice during the long break from school? Summer is almost over and your kids will be going back to school in no time. Make a point to ensure your child has positive oral health throughout the school year. Smile Workshop is a family dental practice focused on helping your children. We strive to provide your entire family with the proper dental care using the latest dental technology.

Here are some things you can do to help your child grow up having a beautiful and healthy smile:

Monitor what you put in the lunchbox

Your child probably loves sticky candy and other sugary sweats. Avoiding these types of foods benefits both your child’s physical and oral health.

If your child buys his or her own lunch, make sure he or she knows what to eat

Sodas, candy and other “junk” food can be very tempting for children who buy their lunch at school. Teaching your child the importance of having a healthy diet will help him or her have stronger and healthier teeth.

Tap water is good for teeth

Tap water contains a mineral called fluoride. Fluoride has proven to be a great way to prevent cavities. Instead of giving your child a bottle of spring water everyday at lunch, pack them a reusable bottle filled with water from your sink or refrigerator.

Bring your child to Smile Workshop at least twice a year.

Smile Workshop and the American Dental Association (ADA) suggest that patients get their teeth cleaned at least twice a year. Basic dental cleanings will help your child avoid serious dental problems in the future.
